Peter Hegre is best known as a purveyor of worryingly nubile nudes. His ability to find perfectly lithe bodies is impressive and means many of his models appear to be so young you have to clear your history and check your shoulder before clicking the next pic. They’re often crazy thin too (he believes you can only be too thin if you’re flat chested. A woman built like an open bra, ‘D’ cups on a piece of string, looks totally healthy.) Borderline Ano-Paedo content aside he’s at the very high end of softcore porn and now, for the first time, is offering a DVD of his shoots called ‘Fantasy Island’.
In 2007 DVDs are nothing but quaint, you can get better quality video online faster than it takes to ship a disc, but there’s doubtless an audience of technophobes, collectors and dial-up users who’ll pay $50 for a couple of hours of mid-res video. On the plus side the normal Hegre quality is on display and unlike much Yank porn there’s no degradation, abuse or bad lighting.
Impossible to watch with your girlfriend (unless she looks like Nella), and not one for fans of fat old angry real women, but that’s not really what it’s for.
I really don’t get the fascination with Hegre or Luba, but more power to people that do. Yes, some of the women he photographs are drop-dead beautiful (at least from the front), but still… none of us work has ever grabbed me and made me want more.
Plus, I prefer my women to look like they have a healthy diet.
Chris - Luba’s pretty astounding looking (IMHO) and she’s even more popular now she has implants and has shot hardcore with her husband. The work is very tame but I think its plainness is what a lot of people find appealing. Admittedly, it could also be described as bland. The look he goes for - young, thin but not buff and busty - certainly has its share of admirers.
I totally get the fascination with Luba, she’s built like someone drew her first. The sheer volume of Herge’s site puts a damper on the fine arts value, but I think he has alot of nice stuff and and least he shoots pics like he cares.
(aside: digital photog modeling– used to be you shot a hundred pics and chose five. Now you shoot a thousand pics and choose a hundred)
Edco - Many shoot a hundred and publish a hundred. Worse still, no one learns how to light, pose or edit anymore but everyone’s got PhotoShop. In my day people knew…
