I’m back. Sorry about the delay - the new website’s on it’s way I swear.
This week there are the competition results, an interview with Steve Diet Goedde and yes, as you might have guessed, Podnography is now a sex video podcast.
I hop you enjoy show sixteen with the wonder of sight. It’s radio with pictures (you’ll see what I mean when you download it). Of course - an audio only version is still available as before.
Low-res audio (14MB .mp3 - radio quality)
High-res audio (37MB .mp3 - CD quality)
Video (180MB .m4v - iPod compatible)
PS. Let me know if you want PSP compatible video in future.
PPS. To watch the video on a computer use QuicktIme 7.
Wow… your video-podcast is surprisingly amazing… looks like Podnography’s getting reviewed on Kitkast 1.10…
Kitka
Thanks Kitka - I appreciate the kudos from someone who know what it is to build one of these things. I am still learning but hope it’ll get hotter, tighter and generally more like sex in all the good ways.
Don’t be too surprized - you’ll ruin my ego.
180 megs? sheesh, some of us only have 256meg capacity on our non-iPod video players…any way to shrink that? (yes, okay, technically 256 megs is enough for 180 megs on its own, but *all* the podcasts i load at any given time have to fit in that…)
Rich - I’ll see what I can do. It’s a long show at 50 mins and the resolution’s pretty low already. The encoding can be tweaked a bit but 50 mins of video is going to be in the 70-100 MB mark however you cut it.
Let me see if I can do something clever over the next few days.
Cheers,
Sam.
Pretty cool vidcast. I like the idea of podcasting to a visual soundtrack (the cheesy, artsy way of saying it, I guess)- it’s nice to hear the cast and interviews while watching witty asides and sexy fetish dolls scroll across the screen. The video is a logical complement, but not essential for people who (like me) listen and browse, or those who nab the straight podcast to listen to on the road.
Sabrina - I’m glad you get it. Radio with pictures. I want the video to compliment the audio while the audio stands alone as-is. Over time I’ll doubtless get better at it.
really looking at my capacity usage, i tend to have 80-100 megs free at any given moment - mind, that’s without thinking about it, using the automated tools. so that sounds good.
which actually leads to an interesting question - I wonder how many low-capacity players are going to have video capabilities in the first place? I use a Palm Tungsten C with a 256 meg flash card for my portable playback needs - there’s a nifty open source media player that handles anything that isn’t WMV - but i’m guessing that few if any flash based players in the 256-512 meg range are gonna have color screens.
i wonder how you’d go about researching this…
Oh, Sam,
I love your interviewing skills, and the way your interviews blend seamlessly into a fascinating converstation. I wonder if I’m the only listener who left disappointed that you didn’t ask the following question, which may seem laughably naive to someone in the industry.
“Steve, some of our listeners who are not familiar with the industry carry around fantasies of photographing beautiful women, since posing and photographing a woman is in many ways like seduction. Do your models ever (or even often) become involved in the shoot to such an extent that they want to jump your bones? Is there a sexual connection between you and the model that develops during a shoot, or is it all just very clinical and professional? “
Sam,
Thanks for the plug! I now feel really silly that I got behind on listening. Still trying to find the time to update my OS so I can run QT 7 and check it out in full video glory, but I love the audio version!
If you have access to a Mac, Mpeg Streamclip 1.5.1 probably does the best and smallest iPod encodes for video. You could probably dramatically reduce the size of the clip without losing video quality. Just bring in the original video, click ‘export mp4′ and then click the iPod button.
Wiley - thanks for the tip.
I’ve got a copy of Streamclip. The reason these shows are heavy because I was trying to preserve quality overall (i.e, high-quality stereo audio). This time around I’ve traded some quality for size and used a format which makes better quality files easily available to people who want them too.
The ’small’ file this week is 40mins and only 80MB and the biggest file is still sub 200MB.
Make psp compatible videos! That would be great!
